SOUL Pilates & Movement began in July 2024, but the idea had been building long before that. At the time, there was a clear gap in Glasgow City Centre for a Pilates space that felt considered, elevated and focused on the full method, compared to other cities in the UK.
When a small unit became available - previously a barbers - it felt like the perfect opportunity to create something. After a few months of renovation, SOUL opened its doors with just three reformers, originally intended as a quiet, intimate space for 1:1 and 1:2 sessions. For the first six months, it was just me - teaching every session, building relationships with clients, building the foundations and gradually growing a loyal community.
What wasn’t planned was the level of demand that followed. As the client base grew, so did the need to expand. In January 2025, I brought on the first member of the team and we started offering group classes at the studio, and from there SOUL naturally evolved into something much bigger than originally imagined. What began as a small private studio has since grown into a team of eight instructors, each bringing their own energy and expertise to the space. I never set out to build a large studio, but as demand grew, so did the community around it. What started as a small space quickly began to outgrow itself.
Then in September 2025, the opportunity came to expand. The upstairs of the building became available after the previous tenants moved out. When I went to view it, it was clear how much potential the space had, despite the amount of work required. It felt like the next step for SOUL, and the decision was made to take it on.
After months of planning and a full transformation, Studio 2 and 3 officially opened in January 2026.
What started as a single room with three reformers has now grown into a fully comprehensive Pilates studio across two floors, offering Reformer, Mat, Tower, Cadillac, Stability Chair and Ladder Barrel, alongside a dedicated wellness space with sauna and cold plunge pool.
SOUL has evolved far beyond what I ever expected in the beginning, but the intention has always stayed the same - to create a space that feels welcoming, thoughtful, and rooted in Pilates as a complete method.
